About the artist - Marj Bond RGI RSW (1936 - 2023)

Marj Bond RSW is a painter and engraver from Scotland. Her rich textured landscapes and depictions of icons include symbols and motifs recalling the heritage of the places she has travelled to and the people she has met.

Marj Bond trained at Glasgow School of Art and taught thereafter in the Outer Hebrides, Inverness and Perth. She also travelled widely after graduation to Italy, India, Morrocco, Spain and South America. Inspired by her travels, her textured paintings are characterised by the application of vibrant pigments and hand-made papers, incorporating semi-abstract motifs and iconic imagery. She has exhibited regularly in the UK and abroad and has won many awards including the Anne Redpath award, the Mondiale D’Estampes etching award and he Tyne Scholarship from the English Speaking Union. Her works are found in many public and private collections including the University of Edinburgh and Perth Museum and Art Gallery.
