Mick Manning: Full Fathom Five
After many years exhibiting individually at the Open Eye Gallery, this new exhibition brings Brita Granström, Mick Manning and Alex Malcolmson together to present a delightfully compatible combination of paintings, constructions and carvings, inspired by their own experiences of living with the sea in all its moods.
Mick Manning studied at the Royal College of Art 1984-87 and since then worked as a freelance illustrator as well as working with various animators such as Gerry Anderson, Dick Taylor and Bob Godfrey. Between 1990-98 he devised and ran the Illustration Course option at The Glasgow School of Art. He now focuses his attention on exhibiting his paintings. He is an Honorary Fellow of Bradford College and the English Association. Manning lives between Sweden and the Scottish Borders where wildlife encounters, fishing trips and chance finds inform his work. His book of Pochoir images 'Near the Bear North' is available from the Design for Today website.
