Set in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town in a former Georgian townhouse, it offers an extensive and varied exhibition programme of Scottish contemporary painting, printmaking and applied arts throughout the year.

    Own Art Scheme

We at Open Eye Gallery believe art is good for the soul and endeavour to make owning and establishing a collection of special pieces achievable to everyone.

We are delighted to be a member of the Own Art scheme, which means that you can buy the art and craft you love and pay for it in monthly, interest-free instalments over a 10 month period.

Please get in touch or speak to us in the Gallery should you wish to discuss the option of purchasing a piece using the Own Art scheme. To find out more about the scheme, visit the Own Art website.
  • Anti-Money Laundering Regulations

As of the 10 January 2020 a new UK regulation came into force to prevent money laundering within the arts sector.

This has the effect that for transactions in excess of €10,000 (circa £8,500) where payments are received by art dealers or galleries proof of identity will now be required. This will require the Gallery to ask for information about your identity and to take copies of appropriate documents (passport, driving licence, utility bill, bank account details).

This will be for any purchase(s) totalling more than €10,000 whether you are an existing or new client notwithstanding the length of your relationship with the gallery.

This is an EU and now UK regulation that will affect the wider art gallery, dealer or auction house market and we ask for your understanding as we undertake and complete these mandatory checks for all our clients.

Any information provided is required to be retained for a period of time under the regulations in line with our privacy policy and will remain confidential.
