Artist's Talk with Jonathan Gibbs

Jonathan Gibbs will give a talk about his exhibition Folk Tale and Other Work on Saturday 10 February at 11am.

In this exhibition Gibbs shows a series of panel paintings in which he depicts form and space with allusions to landscape and objects. These symbolic paintings employ overlapping structures, planes and ambiguities of space to create particular harmonies. Alongside the paintings, Gibbs’ new wood engravings present representational imagery with a more graphic sensibility. Pattern, line and shape are used to depict forms in nature, as well as interior compositions and variations of the still life. The talk will be an opportunity to learn more about the fascinating techniques Gibbs has mastered through the course of his career as a painter and printmaker.

To attend, please rsvp by emailing mail@openeyegallery.co.uk or by phoning 0131 557 1020. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Please note that this is an informal talk and seating will be very limited.
