Tom Wilson: The Odd Man Out: Works on Paper
Edinburgh based artist and former Open Eye Gallery owner and director Tom Wilson presents 'The Odd Man Out', an exhibition of works that strikes a balance between a traditionalist approach to creation and the exploration of modern day themes and consumerism.
For this particular body of work portraits and watercolour studies referencing art history are presented alongside carefully selected montages of the discarded treasures of everyday life. In a throw-away society Wilson has found his muse in the grouping of everyday objects which have been found, quite literally, at his feet.
Tom Wilson's practice reveals the love of drawing found in his teens which has been nourished through his travels and admiration of his surroundings ever since. He exhibited in many galleries outwith the Open Eye Gallery including the Richard Demarco Gallery, Edinburgh; Galerie Tendenz, Sindelfingen, Germany; the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valetta, Malta; The Royal Institute of Fine Arts; The Royal Scottish Academy; The Scottish Society of Artists and the Edinburgh Sketching Club.
