Lara Scouller: Land | Sea | Air
Lara Scouller (b. 1983) is an award-winning Scottish artist who works in a variety of media through her use of pastel drawings, watercolours and printmaking. Her curiosity for the natural world has led her to explore the unique characteristics of the varied and contrasting environments across Scotland.
This exhibition brings together works that explore recurring themes which include trees and wildlife as encountered in the dense woodlands of the Falkland estate through to new beginnings such as those situated in the wild and exposed landscapes of the Isle of May and Shetland.
The Falkland estate in the foot of the Lomond Hills, Fife, has provided ample source material from which the artist has created this series of lively pastel drawings. They capture the changing light on the forest floor along with the fascinating interplay of branches in their form and colour. Similarly, recent visits to the Isle of May and Shetland have provided a poignant backdrop to a new body of work which settles its gaze on the birds and animals whom inhabit these Scottish islands.
