Heather Eliza Walker: Brave Oleander

In her first solo exhibition at the Open Eye Gallery, Heather Eliza Walker introduces her fantastical natural world.

Walker's work is characterised by repeated lines and tiny marks which come together to form intricate images of her imaginary world of flora and fauna. She works with a variety of mark making tools from Rotring and household pens to the more unusual soldering irons, naked flames and needle with thread. Texts often weave throughout her drawings, expanding the story.

Walker was born in Dunfermline in 1959. She attended the University of Edinburgh, Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, and Chelsea School of Art in London. She now lives and works in Scotland.
