Penny Withers and Amy Dunnachie
Debut showcase of ceramics by Penny Withers and jewellery by Amy Dunnachie explore how narrative landscape has influenced each medium.
2015 Glasgow School of Art Graduate, Amy Dunnachie, works with found objects in all areas of her design process to encourage the breath of new life into an old narrative. Collating materials such as photographs, collected wood and silver, brass and copper, Amy both frames and unravels her 3 dimensional stories. Her delicate focus on details such as screws, nuts and rivets echo themes of a hands on, home building youth - free from the grasp of technology - whilst also reflecting the patchwork quality of memory.
Established ceramicist Penny Withers is based in Sheffield and works primarily with thrown and altered stoneware clay. Her work is inspired by the surrounding forms of the landscapes, creating tonal and physical balance within her vessels. Penny has received a number of awards and exhibits widely across the country.
